TB screening
Test Details
Before starting certain biologic and targeted therapies, screening for tuberculosis (TB) is recommended
screening for tuberculosis (TB)
Testing is usually done with a blood test called a Quantiferon test and sometimes a chest X-ray. In most cases this can be arranged through the hospital.
For many medications, screening is also supported in the community through a private nursing agency funded by the manufacturer, with no direct cost to the patient.
If you are changing from one similar treatment to another, TB screening does not usually need to be repeated. Your rheumatology team will advise what is needed for you
