Telemedicine
Telemedicine Services
Whether due to illness, disability, or time constraints, our telemedicine options allow you to stay connected with your rheumatologist and maintain the continuity of your care.

Secure online medical consultations
At Western Rheumatology, we understand that attending in-person appointments isn’t always practical. That’s why we provide telemedicine services tailored for our existing patients.
While telemedicine is not suitable for new patients who may require a more detailed assessment, it is a reliable option for established patients seeking continuity and convenience. It obviously wouldn't be an option for those requiring joint injections either.
Book your appointment
Ask your doctor at your next visit if your appointment might be suitable for a video consultation.
Who Telemedicine is for
Telemedicine at Western Rheumatology is ideal for patients who:
- Are unable to travel due to illness or disability.
- Have limited time to attend in-person appointments.
- Require follow-up care, medication reviews, or test result discussions.
- Have an established relationship and rapport with their rheumatologist.
For new patients, where a comprehensive physical examination and detailed history are often necessary, in-person appointments remain the best option.
Video consultations
Available to existing patients only
▶ A quick video explaining how video consultations work
We use doxy.me, a secure and easy-to-use telemedicine platform for video consultations. This allows face-to-face interaction with your rheumatologist from the comfort of your home.
How It Works
- You will receive a secure link to your personal consultation room before your appointment.
- Access the link using a smartphone, tablet, or computer—no software installation required.
- Engage in a private and interactive consultation with your specialist to discuss your care and treatment plan.
Phone Consultations
Available to existing patients only
For situations where video is not necessary, phone consultations provide a quick and convenient way to connect. These are ideal for shorter follow-ups or when a physical exam is not required.
How It Works
- Schedule your phone consultation by contacting our reception.
- At the agreed time, your rheumatologist will call you to review your care and address your needs.
